Multiple Joint Arthritis

Objective

Arthritis and two new knees.

Background

With two knee replacements and osteoarthritis in his spine, hands and shoulder joints, Neil was a prime candidate for the H2O Physio Arthritis Programme.

Programme
  •  Duration: 30 minutes
  •  Water Temperature: 31˚C
  •  Speed: 3.0 to 5.0kph
  •  Depth: 1100mm
  •  Resistance Jets: Not activated
  •  Direction: Forwards, backwards and sideways
  •  Number of Sessions: 10
Outcomes

Although reasonably fit, Neil suffers with arthritis in a number of joints. With two new knees and arthritis in his spine, hands and shoulder joints, he was keen to minimise symptoms and manage the condition effectively.

Neil’s programme included underwater treadmill training, cryotherapy and physiotherapy. This winning combination provided the perfect way to keep fit and maintain a healthy weight, without pain or further damage to his joints. Improvement was seen with a greater range of movement, increased strength and improved mood.

Swelling and inflammation were reduced, both by exercising in water and applying cold and compression therapy with the Game Ready device.

H2O Physio is ideal for helping people stay active, healthy and strong as they get older, cutting the risk of mobility issues and falls.
